MICHAEL KOVICH JR. | MK92

Michael Kovich Jr. is a Paraguayan-American filmmaker. He studied photography at El Instituto de la Imagen (Paraguay), and film at FAMU (Prague) and American University (Washington, D.C.).

In 2015, he presented a short film in the Cannes Film Festival’s Court Métrage selection, won Best Dramatic Short at the EuroFilm Festival, and received the Ron Sutton Award from American University for his artistic work.

 

At the end of 2019, Michael premiered his debut feature film, El Supremo Manuscrito, a project supported by the Ibermedia program.

 

He also showcased South America’s first virtual reality miniseries, OPUS VR, at the Cannes Festival VR Corner in 2017. The series received multiple international awards for its originality and innovation.

 

In 2021, Michael premiered the Paraguayan horror television series El Regreso de las Sombras on Telefuturo, which became the network’s #1 prime-time program.

 

In late 2023, he released his latest horror feature, El Apartamento, in Paraguayan cinemas. He currently has two feature films in post-production: La Sombra and Noche Buena.

 

Michael is also co-owner of VR GameDev Paraguay, a virtual reality game development studio. The company published Paraguay’s first VR game, Virtual Padel, and is currently developing a new title, David Vs Goliath.
