Paraguayan-American Filmmaker
Michael Kovich Jr. is a Paraguayan-American director, screenwriter, and producer. He holds a degree in Film and Visual Arts, with studies at FAMU (Prague) and American University (Washington, D.C.).
In 2015, he presented a short film in the Cannes Court Métrage selection, won Best Dramatic Short at the EuroFilm Festival, and received the Ron Sutton Award from American University for outstanding artistic achievement.
In 2017, Michael brought South America's first virtual reality miniseries, Opus VR, to the Cannes Film Festival — a project that went on to receive international awards across multiple countries.
In 2019, he co-directed his debut feature film, El Supremo Manuscrito, a winner of the Ibermedia program. In 2021, he wrote and directed El Regreso de las Sombras, reaching #1 in national primetime on Telefuturo.
In late 2023, he released El Apartamento, selected as Paraguay's official representative at the Festival de Málaga 2024.
He has recently completed his latest feature film, La Sombra, with Noche Buena currently in post-production.
